Baker College
Baker College is a private non-profit college in Michigan, with thirteen campuses across the state, as well as an online campus. Baker was founded in Flint in 1911 originally as Baker Business University. Today, campuses are located at Allen Park, Auburn Hills, Cadillac, Cass City, Clinton Township, Coldwater, Flint, Fremont, Jackson, Muskegon, Owosso, Port Huron, Sandusky, as well as the Center for Graduate Studies, Corporate Services, Baker College Online, Culinary Institute of Michigan, and the Auto/Diesel Institute of Michigan.
Baker College offers more than 150 different career programs across its campuses. The college offers programs in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Education, Human Services, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, Automotive and Diesel Technology, and Culinary Arts. Students can select from the different certificate, associate, bachelor, masteral, and doctoral degree programs. The Center for Graduate Studies, meanwhile, is designed for professionals who wish to continue their eduation or enhance their skills and market competitiveness.
Because Baker College is a not-for-profit private institution of higher education, the tuition rates are the lowest-priced in Michigan. Various financial assistance options are also available, and the college provides free financial aid counseling to all students. Forms of financial assistance that students may qualify for at Baker include Scholarship Aid (based on academic excellence); Grant Aid (based on financial need); Loan Aid (with low-interest rates); and Work Aid (part-time employment for students).
Several campuses of Baker College offer residence halls for students who wish to live on campus. Student housing is available at the campuses in Flint, Muskegon, and Owosso, and also at the Auto/Diesel Institute of Michigan and The Culinary Institute of Michigan. Residence halls are contemporary and fully-furnished apartment style buildings. Utilities, cable TV, and high-speed Internet access are provided, as well as laundry facilities, kitchen with full range of appliances, free parking, and 24-hour security.
Baker College is also open to international students. Students from other countries can enroll through the online undergraduate or graduate programs of Baker, or through the resident program. Qualified international students can apply for a full-time academic study program at Baker College. The college is also a part of the Global Bridge Program which is specially designed for international students who wish to begin their college coursework in the U.S., along with ESL classroom time.
